- Which day is the countdown aimed at?
- 25 December, Christmas Day, at midnight local time. In much of Europe the celebration is the evening of the 24th, so if that is the moment you are counting to, read the Christmas Eve line instead: it is one day earlier.
- What day of the week is Christmas this year?
- The line under the clock says so, and it updates with the year. It matters more than it sounds: a Christmas that lands mid-week changes how much leave people take around it, and a weekend Christmas moves the public holiday in several countries.
- Why does the number differ from another countdown site?
- Time zones, mostly. A site counting from UTC will disagree with your local midnight by up to a day near the end. There is also rounding: some sites floor the day count, so what is 1 day here shows as 0 there for the last few hours.
- Does this work offline or on a phone?
- It runs entirely in the browser and uses your device clock, so it works the same on a phone and keeps counting if the connection drops after the page has loaded. Nothing about your visit is sent anywhere.
